EXPOSITION

The exposition is devoted to the creative work of the People's Artist of Belarus Ivan Yakimovich Misko. More than a hundred works of the sculptor, photos, tools of the artist are presented.

Creativity of Ivan Misko is well known not only in our country, but also far beyond its borders. He is often called the "space" sculptor. The space theme is one of the priority ones in his work. He is the author of an entire gallery of sculptural portraits of outstanding representatives of this profession. Among them are nearly all cosmonauts of the former Soviet Union, including Belarusians Vladimir Kovalyonok and Pyotr Klimuk, Oleg Novitsky, and representatives of different countries who have been in orbit.

In addition to sculptures, presented in the workshop-museum, you can also see and appreciate photo-portraits and graphic drawings. All of them are devoted to the space theme. The heroes of these photographs and drawings are Pyotr Klimuk, Vladimir Kovalyonok, Alexei Leonov, Valentina Tereshkova and other cosmonauts.

One of the museum's exhibits is a portrait of Ivan Misko himself, created by an outstanding Belarusian sculptor, People's Artist of the USSR Zair Azgur.

Ivan Yakimovich has an unusual hobby — he collects autographs. In his workshop — the door and the mirror are full of autographs, and not only of cosmonauts, but also of famous Belarusian actors, athletes, scientists, military men. And in Star City, which became a second home for the master, there is a continuation of the collection — his entire working machine is covered with autographs.

Significant in the work of the master was the monument — a memorial in honor of the patriotic mother in Zhodino, created in collaboration with sculptors Nikolai Ryzhenkov, Andrei Zaspitsky and architect Oleg Trofimchuk. The idea of the monument is based on a real tragic story: Anastasia Fominichna Kupriyanova sees off her five sons to the war. None of them returned home, all of them died. Memorial was opened August 20, 1975 in the homeland of A. F. Kupriyanova's birthplace in Zhodino.

The same creative team soon created a monument to the Russian writer Maksim Gorky, which was installed in the Central Children's Park in Minsk.

In 2011, a monument to the Russian writer, state official and public figure Sergei Aksakov appeared in Bashkortostan in Nadezhdino. For this work Ivan Misko received a diploma of the International Foundation of Slavic Script and Culture and the Medal of Cyril and Methodius.
